McNair Kaserne FAQ
  • WHICH WAY IS NORTH?
Long description: Close your eyes and imagine you are standing in the middle of the Quad. Now rotate yourself around until you are facing where the Motor Pool was. On your right was the open area where trucks can enter the Kaserne and beyond that was the tracks and the Stadt park. On your left was the main wing of the Kaserne and beyond that was the parking lot. The "U" of the Kaserne building wrapped around from in front of you, to your left, and around behind you. You are now facing roughly north. The photo on the top left of this page is facing roughly north-west.
Short description: Look at this map.
  • WHY ARE THERE SO MANY PHOTOS OF THE 70S COMPARED TO THE OTHER DECADES? IS IT BECAUSE THAT'S WHEN YOU WERE THERE?
Almost all of these photos come from people just like YOU! If you have photos from another decade, then please send them in. I don't really have anything to do with how each year ends up.
  • HOW DO I CONTRIBUTE PHOTOS/MEMORIES/TIME/EXPERTESE/LAWYERS/GUNS/MONEY TO THE CAUSE?
Simple and appreciated and thanks thanks thanks. Simply .
  • WHO ARE YOU, A PREVIOUS COLONEL THAT RAN THE PLACE OR AN OFFICIAL MILITARY AFFILIATE OR SOMESUCH?
Not even. I arrived in 1976 as a Private First Class. I left as a Specialist-4. I was just a grunt. I have no affiliation with the military now other than being a veteran. However, if the Army wants to pay me for a 10 year study or Steven Spielberg wants to hire me for the movie, then I'm all ears.
  • HOW ARE YOU MAKING MONEY OFF OF THIS?
I'm not. I have to pay for the site space and for the site name. It's not all that much. It takes considerable time to code everything though. The emails I sometimes get make it all worthwhile.
  • WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS?
Go here for a good description of the spark that ignited this web site. I also built this site to learn Macromedia Dreamweaver and to find some old friends. I've since found all of my old friends (except one). Even more important is the fact that I have become friends with many, many other people that share the memories of McNair. What better way to share that than with a web site?

We're still working on this puppy.
